Call for video submissions
As part of Young STEM Leader Week 2026, we’re inviting Young STEM Leaders from across the programme to get involved by sharing their own short video, audio, image or written contribution that captures what being a Young STEM Leader means to them.
This year’s theme, Stories from the Young STEM Leader Programme, will involve revealing and celebrating the real stories behind what it means to be a Young STEM Leader through contributions shared in their own words, voices, images and creations.
Young STEM Leader Week 2026 will take place 26 - 30 October 2026.
Our ask
We’re inviting Young STEM Leaders and Tutor Assessors to submit a short piece of content that reflects their personal Young STEM Leader experience to be showcased during Young STEM Leader Week 2026.
This could be:
-
A short video clip recorded on a phone or tablet
-
A voice note or audio recording
-
A photo or image with a short written reflection
-
A written piece on its own
This is not a performance or presentation. There is no script to memorise, and no expectation to speak or create in a particular way. Contributions can be simple, informal and personal.
We warmly welcome submissions from Young STEM Leaders and Tutor Assessors with different interests, confidence levels and communication styles. There is no “right” format.
Suggested prompts
You might want to think about some of the following questions:
-
What does being a Young STEM Leader mean to you?
-
Can you tell us about a moment where you felt proud of something you did in STEM?
-
What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a Young STEM Leader/Tutor Assessor?
-
How has being a Young STEM Leader/Tutor Assessor changed the way you think about STEM?
-
How have your leadership skills improved?
Format guidance
If you are submitting video or audio:
-
Aim for 30-60 seconds
-
A quiet space is helpful, but not essential
-
Take as many clips as you need. Please don’t worry about editing, effects or production quality. Authenticity matters more than polish.
If you are submitting images or written content:
-
Images can be anything that represents your experience (projects, sketches, spaces, moments)
-
Written reflections don’t have to be long - even a few sentences is enough!
How to submit
You can submit your contribution via the form below.
Completion of the SSERC Photo and Filming consent form is required for all participants who appear in photo or video submission. Other submissions may be anonymised. Participants aged 16 and over may provide their own consent. For participants under the age of 16, consent must be provided by a parent or carer. All consent forms must be completed and returned alongside your submission. You can access a copy of this here.
All contributions must be submitted by 30 September 2026 to feature as part of our showreel video to be released during Young STEM Leader Week 2026.

-
During Young STEM Leader Week 2026 and beyond
